Did you know there are more than 3,000 colleges offering online degrees in the U.S alone? If you've thought of earning a degree online how much time did you give to the question of who the online university or college you'd thought about attending is. With the waves of competition to enroll online college students, it's often hard to get past the slick sales pitch many of these colleges have developed to get you to lower your guard and turn off your reason and sign up with them to earn that much desired degree.
Unfortunately, reality is often realized after you spent tremendous amounts of money and time to earn what you thought were legitimate college hours only to learn they will not transfer to a traditional college or help you with your job. Imagine the anger of learning your efforts where all for no gain. Adding to this problem was the recent article on the Human Resources Executive Online website specifically addressing the question of the acceptance of online degrees and applicants for positions who've earned them. It was revealed in the article of the 3,000 online colleges offering online degrees only 2% were viewed to be legitimate. To you this means only 60 out of 3,000 online colleges who offer an online degree are believed to be of any value to person has one. This clearly shows how stacked the deck is against a person seeking to earn that degree by distance education.
Considering that distance education is so loosely watched over don't expect things to get better anytime in the near future. What it does point to is the need for each person seeking to earn an online degree to execute due diligence first. In short, this means buyer beware. This can be challenging when trying to find those hidden gems offering a meaningful online education and degree experience.
To get directly to the heart of the matter, don't let this stop you from seeking an online degree. Focus on the fact there are honest online degree programs available to you. It might take some time to find one that matches your goals but it's there. As a online degree graduate myself, I know. Stay on the path and get that online degree you want.
Christopher S. Everett is a proud online degree graduate of Skidmore University. Upon graduation he was frequently asked about his graduating with an online bachelors degree. In an effort to fill a need for this knowledge about online education he created Got My Degree Online. His work was further driven by the fact as the online education market had grown rapidly it was putting many future students at risk of encountering any number of less than reputable online colleges rushing to fill this market whose goals were little more than to access the hard earned money of these future students. In short, it was his goal to help people wanting access to online
degrees to have it.
